Thoughts on Conflicts, Peace and Defence policies

I am a little late on schedule but here is a short post to inform you about Alan Taylor’s monthly post about Afghanistan.

ISAF contributing nations are undergoing their withdrawal at different paces (France has just ended the mandate of its combating troops this month, whilst 68,000 US troops remain in the country) and Afghans worry about the outcome of the withdrawal (see John D McHugh’s documentary about it on youtube). Given the post-2014 uncertainties, some are contemplating a contingency force (in addition to mentoring missions that will train the Afghan National Security Forces) that would protect foreign interests and back the ANSF.
